All season long, when St. Anthony was listed No. 1 in The Star-Ledger Top 20 and Plainfield No. 2, people were circling tonight (Tuesday) on their calendar.

That’s when the rematch of last year’s Tournament of Champions final (won by St.Anthony) is scheduled to take place at Plainfield High School at 7 p.m.

The game will still be played and it should be a classic atmosphere for high school basketball, but there’s been one slight change of plans.

With Plainfield losing to St. Pat’s on Thursday, yours truly has put a little damper on the game since it will now be No. 1 vs. No. 5.

With the loss to St. Pat’s, I was willing to give Plainfield a pass and leave it at No. 2, especially since it had split the season series.

But when No. 5 St. Joe’s upended St. Pat’s two days later, I decided to bump St. Joe’s over Plainfield. And since I couldn’t put St. Joe’s ahead of Gill St. Bernard’s and Teaneck, it forced me drop the Cards behind all those teams. But the ranking stuff only matters at the end, so I’m just as excited as I was a month ago for this game.

A word to the wise, get there early _ 5 p.m? _ or you won’t get in.

Tickets go on sale at 3:45 p.m. to the public. Once 2,000 Tickets are sold, the doors will be closed.

The freshman game starts at 4, the JVs go at 5:30 and the varsity at 7.
